When it comes to buying a certain product, price is probably the determining factor. The price has to be in your range in order for you to buy this product. So, let’s take a look at how these two models compare in this area.

The BYD Han is a full-size luxury sedan that starts at $30,400. And if we consider that this is such a large vehicle, the price is pretty irresistible.

The BYD Han is probably the best value that you can get when it comes to buying a vehicle from China.

When it comes to the BYD Seal, this is a car built on the e-Platform 3.0. The Seal is a smaller mid-size model but much more advanced compared to the Han in terms of chassis and technologies.

This is why the BYD Seal is a bit expensive, this model starts at $29,580. Although one class below the BYD Han, the BYD Seal is only $1,000 cheaper.

When it comes to these models and adding options. A well optioned BYD Han will set you back about $41,000. And a higher trim of the BYD Seal will set you back about $40,250.

Overall, these models are pretty similar in terms of pricing.

The design is very important when it comes to buying a new car. This is the aspect that attracts us to a certain model. A car has to fulfill you in order to be considered as a good purchase. So, how do these two models perform?

Well, both of these models are pretty good looking exterior wise. The BYD Han is a car that is a conversion from an internal combustion model.

This means that the BYD Han is not much different than a standard ICE model exterior wise. Which is a good thing because not many are after the EV look.

With the BYD Han, you have a very sleek looking front end. Since this is an EV, you don’t have the grille. The design is made for maximum aero and squeezing every bit of range.

When it comes to the side profile, the BYD Han is a pretty long car. This is a luxury sedan and that’s why we like it. This model gives you that Mercedes Benz S-Class vibe with the premium design all around.

The BYD Seal on the other hand is built on a fully electric chassis. This is the e-Platform 3.0. Since this model is built as an EV, this means that the BYD Seal is designed as such.

So, the front end is very futuristic with sleek styling. This is essential because the model has a goal to achieve the maximum aerodynamics in order to deliver the best range possible.

This model is probably more comparable to the Tesla Model 3. The Seal is very much inspired by the Tesla and this is definitely in a good way.

The interior on the other hand is a different story. The BYD Han is a very roomy sedan that is designed to accommodate passengers in the rear. So, the seats are incredible. Everything is covered in beautiful leather, headroom and legroom are no problem at all.

While the BYD Seal, although it has a modern interior, it is not as good as the Han. This model is a bit shorter and headroom and legroom in the rear are not as plentiful as in the BYD Han.

But overall, the design of the cabin and the materials are really good in the BYD Seal as well.

They are powered by a single motor that is producing 201 hp and 310 N-m of torque. The major difference being the fact that the BYD Han is a front wheel drive and the BYD Seal is a rear wheel drive model.

While the BYD Seal also has an AWD model that produces 522 hp and 670 N-m that accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds.

Battery and range are essential when it comes to buying an EV. You need an EV that delivers good range in order not to struggle with range anxiety. And range anxiety is a real problem when it comes to EVs.

And we can tell you that both the BYD Han and BYD Seal deliver a good range on the base versions.

With the BYD Han, you have a 60 kWh battery that is good for 506 km of range. While the BYD Seal implements a 60 kWh battery that is good for a range of 550 km.

If you want more range, you can go with a 77 kWh battery with the BYD Han that is good for 605 km.

You also have this option with the BYD Seal, where you can go for an 82.5 kWh and get a range of 700 km.

So, overall, the BYD Seal is a bit better with range on the higher end of the spectrum. You have about 100 km more range compared to the BYD Han.

BYD Han vs BYD Seal: Autopilot and Other Tech

One of the main things that people want from an EV is the autopilot. These days everybody is after self-driving cars. So, are these two models self-driving?

Well, sort of. Both the BYD Han and the BYD Seal offer some autonomy on the highway. This is made possible by the feature known as adaptive cruise control.

This is a feature that allows the driver to drive hands free to a certain extent, with basically minimal input.

This feature is part of the ADAS, which is the Autonomous Driving Assistance System. This system implements plenty of radars, cameras, and sensors.

This system offers a whole palette of features that include adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, crash detection, automated emergency braking, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure alert, park assist, and a lot of other features.

It basically depends on how much you can spend to activate all of these features in your BYD. The features that we strongly recommend are the adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking, and blind spot monitoring.

The size of the vehicle is a very important aspect that you shouldn’t make compromises on. Because if you really make compromises, you will struggle in the long term. You need a car that is very practical and able to meet your needs!

The BYD Han is a very large full-size sedan. This model is predominantly focused on driver and passenger comfort, especially in the rear. With the long wheelbase that the BYD Han implements, there is plenty of headroom and legroom.

The seats are extremely comfortable and you will never struggle for room inside the cabin. While in the trunk space, you can fit up to 410 liters, which is a pretty decent amount of space for groceries, traveling bags, and much more.

The BYD Seal on the other hand is smaller, this model from size perspective is one class below the BYD Han.

Overall, the BYD Seal is shorter than the BYD Han and there is a bit smaller amount of space inside the cabin.

While when it comes to trunk space, with the BYD Seal you can accommodate up to 450 liters of cargo.

Overall, both of these models are pretty similar in this aspect besides the more length of the BYD Han.

When buying a new EV, safety should be one of the top concerns. You need a vehicle that will meet all of the requirements when it comes to safety and guarantee your safety and the safety of your passengers.

As we noted previously, these models offer something known as ADAS. A safety system that has many functions, such as adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, automated emergency braking and a lot more.

Having these functions is useful. They help a lot when it comes to mitigating the risks of crashing.

But overall crash protection is also very important when it comes to shopping for a new EV. So, both of these models were rigorously crash-tested.

Specifically, the BYD Seal was tested in Europe and China. Where it scored perfect 5/5 stars overall on the C-NCAP and Euro NCAP tests.

The BYD Han was only tested in China since this is predominantly a Chinese model and this model also scored clean 5/5 stars overall.

So, considering this, both of these models are pretty good in this aspect.

Vehicle warranty is really important when it comes to buying a new vehicle. You need good coverage because who knows what will happen in the long term.

What is good is that BYD offers some of the best warranties in the EV industry right now. With BYD you have an 8 year or 160,000 km warranty on the battery. And as we all know, the battery is the most important and most expensive component.

You also have a good vehicle warranty with these two models. Which is about 6 years or 150,000 km.

Overall, the warranty that BYD has is definitely one of the main factors why buyers choose BYD over the competition.

BYD Han vs BYD Seal: Additional Considerations

There are no important considerations that you need to take when it comes to the BYD Seal and the BYD Han.

Maybe besides the fact that the Seal is a model built on a new architecture and implements the latest and greatest technology. Which the BYD Han is lacking since this is a model introduced a few years ago.

Final Thoughts

Overall, choosing between the BYD Han and the BYD Seal can be a difficult decision.

The BYD Han offers a lot more luxury and comfort compared to the BYD Seal. But the Han is also pretty outdated technology wise compared to the BYD Seal.

The BYD Seal is a bit smaller but also built on a brand new architecture that is very advanced compared to the one that is found in the BYD Han.

So, considering this, we recommend going after the BYD Seal instead of the BYD Han. This model is newer and has the latest and greatest tech in the EV market.
