Tank started off as one of the many sub-brands under the Chinese company Great Wall Motors, often referred to as GMW. Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd, the company that manufactures Tank was established in 1984.

The Chinese, privately owned automobile manufacturer is currently ranked the 8th largest auto manufacturer in China with over a million units sold in 2021.

With the massive success the Tank 300 met with during its launch in 2020, GMW officially built a sub-platform for โ€œTANKโ€ SUVs. Since then, GMW TANK has put out a variety of different models that represent a unique blend of luxury and function.

Most of the GWM TANKโ€™s lineup is made to best some existing SUVs, at only a fraction of the cost. In that right, the value for money offered by GMW TANK is unmatched.

The TANK lineup features intelligent design with smart features like terrain recognition and off-road expert mode, as well as interior additions for maximum comfort even when tackling the harshest terrain.

The hybrid configuration offered in TANK SUVs is primarily powered by gasoline while being assisted by electricity. This makes TANK an eco-friendly option while getting impressive numbers when it comes to fuel efficiency.

TANK’s lineup consists of hybrid vehicles that provide reliability and state-of-the-art functionality. The earlier versions of the TANK 300 and 500 only offered HEV functionality but the more recent models now offer plug-in hybrid functionality which will be a great addition to any driver who wishes to drive either on or off the road.

The GWM TANK is a luxury SUV that comes in a range of sizes and designs. The TANK is a common candidate for high safety ratings and as such is a very popular off-roading option.

A GWM TANK can cost from 25,000 USD to anywhere above 95,000 USD straight out of the factory. Often the models come with luxury variants that offer more smart additions to the SUV.

The smaller TANK 100 which offers great off-road capability with both manual and automatic gearing comes at a price of about 25,000 USD without insurance or any other add-ons.

And the TANK 500 which is a competitor to other off-road vehicles like Toyotaโ€™s Prado costs about 50,000 USD for the base version.

The TANK lineup offers excellent features. With the latest models, you can get smart additions that enhance both off-roading and driver/passenger comfort. The TANK 300 and TANK 500 are the most successful models, and they provide a wide range of customization options.

Whether you want to add more performance or more comfort, these models have got you covered. It is always possible to have the small and nifty TANK 100 boosted up to the same level of performance as the TANK 300.

How Expensive Can GWM TANKs Get?

The latest high-end TANK model from GWM has been announced and it will arrive early next year. It is the TANK 700 Hi4-T, the new SUV offers plug-in hybrid capabilities.

It was on presale at the Guangzhou Auto Show for the price of 700,000 Yuans which is roughly 96,000 USD. Pre-ordering gets you a bunch of benefits and it also gets you a complete towing hook package with your SUV.

The TANK 700 has a three-meter wheelbase making sure it is stable when you need to go beyond the confines of the road.

The ninety-plus thousand dollars you will spend if you purchase this will not go to waste as the SUV itself has a 3-liter bi-turbo V6 engine paired with a 9-speed transmission giving you approximately 500 horsepower.

It is complete with a sleek aggressive design that reflects the image of toughness which the company says is the vision for the SUVโ€™s design. The breathtaking performance specs are coupled with a gorgeous interior that youโ€™ll fall in love with at first glance.

Not only is the interior good looking, but youโ€™ll feel like riding on top of a cloud regardless of the terrain you take your TANK through.

With this new addition undoubtedly Great Wall Motors will be moving further into high-end SUVs. Which will help them along their goal of claiming off-road supremacy over other competitors in the market.

Another recent addition is the TANK 400 Hi4-T. The TANK 400 is a 5-seater with a very spacious trunk. The TANK 400 just like other TANK models uses both an electric and a gasoline motor giving it more than 400 horsepower.

This SUV has a pretty powerful electric engine with a 105km range on a fully charged battery and 800 kilometers of combined range.

The TANK 400 is out in two trim levels one being the entry trim level which costs only 38,300 USD. The entry trim level offers excellent features including leatherette seats, a moon roof, and a rear differential lock.

However, for 2,500 USD more, you can purchase the top trim level. This gives you additional features like a massage feature for the driverโ€™s seat, a leather interior, a ventilated driverโ€™s seat, and a heated steering wheel for those chilly winter drives.

What is the Cheapest GWM TANK?

The TANK 100 boasts a powerful turbocharged two-liter four-cylinder petrol engine and also an alternative diesel engine which can be obtained additionally.

TANK 800

One of the models TANK is yet to release is the TANK 800 which although no prices have been revealed yet looks to be on the higher end of the TANK spectrum. The car looks similar to that of the Rolls Royce Cullinan with a large polygonal grill in the front.

According to the Chinese car maker, this car rather than taking a rugged look common to other TANK models will be made to look and feel luxurious which further confirms that this will be one of TANKโ€™s higher-end vehicles.

However, that doesnโ€™t take away from the TANK 800โ€™s off-roading capabilities. Just like its predecessors the TANK 800 will be more than able to handle itself outside conventional travel paths.

With several new additions such as height-adjustable air suspensions and the addition of two off-roading modes namely, creeping mode and wading mode. This will allow the TANK 800 to perform exceptionally offroad.
