About HongQi
The name HongQi directly translates as “red flag.” But there are no red flags when it comes to their products as they’ve been manufacturing automobiles for quite a while now.
Founded in 1958, the company has been producing vehicles for over half a century and has established itself as a trusted brand in the Chinese automotive industry.
Over the years, their vehicles have undergone numerous refinements and improvements, resulting in a lineup of cars that are both stylish and reliable.
The company is headquartered in Changchun, China. This is also their primary production plant. So, almost all their vehicles are made on domestic soil except for the HongQi H9.
The HongQi H9, which is a recently introduced supercar is set to start production in Italy.
HongQi’s EV Range
HongQi as a brand has always been at the forefront of innovation. So, development began as soon as manufacturing EVs was an option. The first EV manufactured by HongQi was unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show, which was the E-HS9, an all-electric luxury SUV.
The first HongQi EV to roll off the assembly line was the same E-HS9 which was released on the 27th of December 2022.
This was followed by another EV, the HongQi E001, which is an electric mid-sized sedan. This is their latest model which was released on November 2023. The E001 is known for its supreme range of 800 km.
Fun Facts About HongQi
There is no concrete evidence of where the name HongQi, “red flag” is derived from. However, the red flag was a symbol of power, representing the communist party in China.
It is likely that the name HongQi was chosen to reflect the national pride and the revolutionary spirit during the time of the Brand’s launch in 1958.
On that note, launching in 1958 HongQi is also the oldest Chinese passenger car brand. This also makes HongQi the first car independently manufactured in China. At the time of its launch, HongQi wasn’t available to the public.
It was a luxury item allocated for foreign dignitaries and elite party members. The first model used for this purpose was the CA72 introduced on August 1st, 1958.
This model came with a 197-horsepower V8 engine. The grille of the car was based on a traditional Chinese fan, which is still incorporated in some of their models today.
What is the Most Expensive HongQi?
Released during the Shanghai Auto Show in 2013, the HongQi L5 is the most expensive HongQi that you can buy. Not only is it the most expensive HongQi ever sold, but it is also renowned as the most expensive Chinese-made car available for purchase.
It is the official state car of China and is also used by President Xi Jinping. The selling price of the HongQi L5 is $800,000.
However, this is not the most expensive HongQi ever sold. The hypercar produced by HongQi, the HongQi S9 is priced at $1,450,000. Unfortunately, this will not be a part of the HongQi lineup as only 70 cars will be made.

HongQi H7
The HongQi H7 is the successor to the HongQi HQ3 was in production from 2006 to 2010. The car was presented to the public during the 2012 Beijing Auto Show before going on sale the year after in May.
The model was revised in 2016 with the addition of a plug-in hybrid variant of the H7. Currently, the H7 comes in 3 different trim levels.
There are 3 different engine options for the H7: a 1.8L turbocharged inline-four, a 2.0L turbocharged inline-four, and a 3.0L V6. The H7 is easily distinguishable due to its massive Rolls Royce-like front grille.

HongQi H9
The HongQi H9 is part of the luxury lineup. The HongQi H9 was presented in April 2020 and has been on the Chinese market since August 2020. HongQi released a stretched version of the H9 the following year and named it the H9+.
The car comes 5 different trim levels and two engine options; a 2.0L turbocharged engine and a 3.0L supercharged engine. The 2.0L engine also comes with a hybrid option. The luxuries and safety features are what take the cake when it comes to the H9.
Almost all the models come with Front Collision Warning (FCW), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Lane Departure Warning (LDW, automatic parking, and more.

HongQi Ousado
The Ousado is a luxury sedan that comes from HongQi. The car has a futuristic and luxurious design surrounding it. At the front, you’ve got a bold chrome grille with 12 vertical rods with the striking red line of the HongQi logo running from halfway down the bonnet to the center of the grill.

HongQi HS5
The HongQi HS5 is a compact luxury crossover SUV produced by the Chinese manufacturer. The HS5 is a model that is renowned for its strength. More than 60% of the SUV contains high-strength steel with the exterior made using thermos steel sheets.

HongQi HS7
The HS7 is the HongQi premier off-roader. Since its introduction in 2019, the model has undergone numerous changes. If you were to buy a HongQi HS7 today, you have 7 different trim levels to choose from. So, you get to pick exactly what you want out of this SUV.

HongQi E-HS9
The E-HS9 is an all-electric full-sized luxury SUV. The fine craftsmanship and modern technology that goes into the cabin will make you instantly fall in love with the SUV at first glance.
But the highlight of the E-HS9 remains the battery. Despite the SUV weighing in at 2,780kg, it still has a maximum range of 311 miles or 500 km. The 84 kWh lithium-ion battery power two motors situated in the front and rear axles.
These motors combined can produce 600 Nm of torque, with the top trim level housing a 329 horsepower motor for the rear axle.

HongQi E-QM5
The E-QM5 is a compact executive sedan, with a highly practical build. The car has a distinctive styling with unique headlights upfront and vertical slats on the closed-off grille just like many other HongQi vehicles.
The car has all the active safety features which include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and driver fatigue monitoring reminder, actively intervening to reduce accidents.
